ICBS Emory Young Scholar Chapter hosted the spring event on April 12th, 2019. This is the second major event of the student/postdoc organization since its launch in the summer of 2018. Centered around the theme “Chemical Biology in the Drug Discovery and Development”, Dr. Zaneta Nicolovska-Coleska (University of Michigan) talked about the chemical biology and drug discovery research in academia, Dr. Douglas Auld (Novartis) presented the opportunities of industry-academic collaborations with Novartis, and Dr. Kallol Basu (Merck Process) presented the development of a green and sustainable manufacturing process for a clinical candidate drug MK-7264.
Congratulations Dr. Xiulei Mo with the Cell Chemical Biology paper "HTiP: High-Throughput Immunomodulator Phenotypic Screening Platform to Reveal IAP Antagonists as Anti-cancer Immune Enhancers"! Cell Chem. Biol., 2019, 26, 331-339. PubMed

January 2018: The Fu lab contributes to the NCI CTD2 network publication in Nature Biotechnology. Dr. Xiulei Mo, Instructor of Pharmacology, utilized the highly sensitive TR-FRET technology to provide strong supporting evidence for the dual CRISPR study-derived genetic network model with the Dr. McManus team from University of California San Francisco.
February 2017: Read about our research and development of OncoPPi, “a focused PPI[protein-protein interaction] resource that links cancer genes into a signaling network fordiscovery of PPI targets and network-implicated tumour vulnerabilities for therapeutic interrogation”. Emory Winship news story here.
February 2017: Lab alumni MaKendra Umstead recently received a 2017 Celebrating Black History Award by WRAL, a local North Carolina news station in Umstead’s homestate. Click here to watch Umstead’s interview and be sure to read about her previous work in the Fu Lab here.
November 2016: MaKendra Umstead was awarded the first Kharen Fulton Diversity Graduate Award! Read more>>
October 2016: Congratulations to Dr. MaKendra Umstead on defending her thesis and graduating from Emory’s Cancer Biology Ph.D. program!
October 2016: Cindy, Valentina and Yuhong will be presenting posters and representing the Fu Lab at the International Chemical Biology Society meeting in Madison, WI
August 2016: The Fu Lab is happy to welcome our newest graduate student, Sean Doyle, to the lab! He is a MD/Ph.D. student and beginning his first year in the MSP program.
